Comedian Stephen Merchant will host channel 4’s Crystal Maze special, due to air in October.
Rumours were swirling that former Doctor Who star David Tennant would host the one-off show, but Ricky Gervais’s writing partner Stephen confirmed he’ll be the maze master according to Radio Times.
The celebrity-themed special is airing as part of Channel 4’s annual Stand Up To Cancer charity gala.

He added, ‘Richard O’Brien and Ed Tudor-Pole leave big shoes to fill, but I have size 14 feet, so I’ll do my best.’

The charity special will be filmed in London at the Crystal Maze Live Experience, an experience in which the public can take part in the games.
Celebrities for the SU2C special will be announced over the next few weeks.
