Buckingham Palace announced earlier in the year that the Queen's grandaughter Princess Eugenie would marry her long-term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank.

The couple will marry in the autumn at St George's Chapel in Windsor, the same venue Eugenie's cousin Prince Harry married fiancée Meghan Markle at in May.

They became engaged at the start of January while on holiday in Nicaragua and later shared official portraits to mark the occasion, where Eugenie displayed her engagement ring which features a padparadscha sapphire surrounded by diamonds.

But who is Jack Brooksbank? Here's what we know.

Early life

Born to an accountant, Jack attended the independent school Stowe in Buckinghamshire, according to the Daily Mail. After leaving school, he worked as a waiter and barman for a few years and told the Mail his "dream" at 18-years-old was to create a chain of pubs because he had "fond memories of Sunday roasts in pubs with log fires" and it was something he wanted to recreate.

Relationship with Eugenie

The two are believed to have met in the ski resort of Verbier, Switzerland in 2010 through mutual friends. Eugenie was studying at Newcastle university at the time but she later moved to New York for a couple of years to work for auction house Paddle8.

In 2013, Jack spoke to the Daily Mail about their long-distance relationship: "We spend a lot of time on Skype," he said. "It's great. We're very much still together."

In 2016, after Eugenie had moved back to the UK, she told Harper's Bazaar US she and Jack were "obsessed" with the TV show The Walking Dead and that the two loved going out to eat.

Job

Jack reportedly started off as a barman and a waiter and then worked in a pub in Chelsea before joining the team at Mayfair nightclub Mahiki - which was said to be a favourite of royals including Prince Harry and Prince William - where he became the manager.

In 2015, Jack became the UK brand ambassador for Casamigos Tequila, the company co-founded by George Clooney, Rande Gerber (aka Mr Cindy Crawford) and Mike Meldman.

Announcing Jack's appointment last year, Casamigos said that Jack would represent Casamigos among "top tire venues including hotel groups and private clubs" using his "industry knowledge acquired from over 8 years of on-trade experience".

Fitting in with the family

Having dated Eugenie for a relatively long time, Jack appears to well and truly be part of the family. He's been spotted arm in arm with Eugenie's mother Sarah Ferguson at Royal Ascot and attended the Duchess of Cambridge's sister Pippa Middleton's wedding last year.

Both the Duke and Duchess of York were over the moon when their daughter's engagement was announced and spoke very highly of Jack. Prince Andrew told the BBC Jack was an "absolutely astounding young man" and Sarah Ferguson said she loves Jack and was "so excited to have a son".
