Personalised tweets from senior royals are few and far between, but England's dramatic World Cup win meant a tribute to the Three Lions was in order.
Prince William made a rare appearance on social media as he shared his pride with the nation on Tuesday night. After Gareth Southgate's squad beat Colombia 4-3 in a penalty shoot out, the prince took to Kensington Palace's official Twitter account to send a sweet congratulatory message.
'I couldn’t be prouder of @england - a victory in a penalty shootout! You have well and truly earned your place in the final eight of the #worldcup and you should know the whole country is right behind you for Saturday!' William wrote.

England's penalty shoot-out victory was the first ever in their World Cup history. They will now face Sweden in the quarter-final match at the Samara Arena on Saturday afternoon, when the team's royal supporter will no doubt be watching closely.
William, who is president of the English Football Association, recently joked that anyone who told him the score of the England-Panama game would suffer 'pain of death' while on his visit to Jordan last month. To show his devotion to the game, Kensington Palace later shared photos of William enjoying the match with his host, Crown Prince Hussein, after he avoided finding out the final score.
Fingers crossed there will be a lot more for William and the nation to celebrate this weekend!
