Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has revealed that she's joining the cast of Hollyoaks – well, sort of.

The TV presenter has taken to Twitter to reveal that she's been filming a small role in the Channel 4 soap, but she's sworn to secrecy on any further details.

It seems that Kate was hard at work on her scenes yesterday and while she couldn't tell us too much, she did reveal that she's involved in a big storyline this autumn.

What to read next

Kate told her Twitter followers: 'Big tks to the @Hollyoaks gang 4 making filming my small part in a big plot for sept- so much fun!!! u are going to be gripped!! #nospoilers.'

Tagging in Good Morning Britain's weather presenter Laura Tobin, she added: 'So @Lauratobin1 the @Hollyoaks lot have a bone to pick with u - it's pouring down & we are filming outside today!!! Aargh my blowdry!!@GMB.'

So, could Kate come to Hollyoaks on the trail of a hot news story in the village this autumn?

Or does she just fancy a quick trip to Chester? Hollyoaks stayed tight-lipped when we approached them for further comment, so we'll just have to wait and see.

It's not the first time that a morning TV star has found themselves on Hollyoaks, though. Back in 2012, Eamonn Holmes filmed a cameofor scenes which saw Mitzeee Minniver appear on the Sky News Sunrise programme, which he hosted at the time.

Back then, Mitzeee's appearance on the breakfast news show saw her caught up in a vengeful plan to get justice for the death of her love interest Riley Costello.

Only time will tell whether Kate's involvement in Hollyoaks is just as dramatic!

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
