I’m a creature of habit. I have the same lunch most days, consisting of a plain, boring ham sandwich – in part, because I’m a little lazy, but also because I simply can’t think of an exciting lunch option when I’m rushed for time or meal-prepping for the week.
Recently though, things have changed. I’ve come across an affordable kitchen gadget that has revolutionised my lunches and even switched up my household’s dinnertimes too. Let me introduce you to the CRIMPiT.
What is a CRIMPiT?
This simple (yet, in my humble opinion, incredible) gadget perfectly seals tortilla wraps to lock in all your favourite fillings. Got some leftover minced meat from last night's dinner? Simply fill a wrap, crimp, remove, chuck your little parcel in the air fryer, oven or grill and, voila – you’ve got a tasty burrito. Or calzone. Or pastie. Or...you get the drift.
What to read next
I’ll confess, I’m a huge fan of fun kitchen gadgets generally – I often spend hours looking at the latest trending products on social media – but they can often be a bit of a gimmick; it’s very rare that I find a product that doesn’t get shoved to the back of the cupboard after a few weeks. But the CRIMPiT is here to stay.

How does the CRIMPiT work?
The CRIMPiT is possibly one of the easiest kitchen gadgets I’ve ever used, and I’ve tried plenty. It’s not an electrical appliance so you don’t even have to plug it in – simply open it up and lay a large wrap across the surface, ensuring it reaches over the top of the ridges.
Now you can get creative. Part of the beauty of the CRIMPiT is its versatility. Add leftovers, fresh ingredients, meat, veggies, or just cheese – and if you fancy dessert afterwards, perhaps some fruit and Nutella.
Top tip: Try not to overfill the wrap (it’s easy to get carried away). Leave enough space at the edge to crimp, then brush cold water around the edges as this helps it to stick. Finally, fold the CRIMPiT over and push down to seal.
You can pop the whole thing in the microwave too, so if you’re a cheese-lover, now’s your opportunity to create that perfect, satisfyingly oozy cheese-pull moment (and become the envy of the whole office).
Or if you’re at home, remove the crimped wrap and place it in your air fryer for a few minutes for a crispy exterior and that all-important melting interior.
My verdict on the CRIMPiT
I like to think of the CRIMPit as similar to the best toastie maker. It’s not an essential kitchen gadget, but it’s fun to cook with and it can definitely dial up those boring work for home lunches.
Everything about it is fuss-free, and its compact size means you can pop it in a bag and take it with you for exciting lunches on the go. Of course, you can’t enjoy hot wraps when out and about, but even sealing your favourite cold fillings inside makes for a more interesting lunch than a regular sandwich. And if you have an office microwave, your colleagues are about to be seriously impressed.
Plus, if you ever get stuck for ideas or want to try a new flavour combination, CRIMPiT has a dedicated community group on Facebook where members share tips and tricks to get the most out of the product, as well as recipe inspiration.
My favourite combinations so far have been spicy sausage and couscous, and I’m still dreaming about the pizza pocket I made, stuffed with cheese, tomato and salami.
Thanks to the perfect seal on the wraps, the CRIMPiT doesn’t get particularly dirty either – a quick rinse under the tap loosened any crumbs – but even if you do make a mess, it’s dishwasher-safe for quick clean ups.
The CRIMPiT is available to shop at Amazon and CRIMPiT.
