Tom Hardy is one of the most celebrated and famous actors of our time, with a string of hit TV and film appearances under his belt and a massive fanbase.
We count ourselves as firm fans of the Brit actor and thought we thought we knew a fair bit about Tom, from his family life to his love of dogs. But it turns out, until now we haven’t even known his real name...
That’s right, Tom Hardy isn’t really called Tom.

The actor was actually born Edward Thomas Hardy, to parents Anne and Edward (presumably Tom’s namesake) in 1977.

Between then and now, Tom’s obviously dropped his first name and decided to go by his middle one instead.
Despite the actor’s real name being fairly common knowledge (it’s mentioned in the press and various biographies) – it’s not been widely publicised.
