Louis Smith wasn't impressed during an interview on Good Morning Britain.

The Olympic gymnast looked mortified when presenter Ben Shepherd decided to bring up his audition for X Factor back in 2009.

Before he became famous, it turns out the sportsman wanted to be a pop star and tried to impress Simon Cowell with his vocals.

Unfortunately, he wasn't as good as he thought he was, and was rejected by the music mogul.

When Ben decided to bring up the bad memory, Louis made it clear he didn't want to talk about it.

'No, I didn't audition [for X Factor],' he told the presenter. 'I didn't. Let's stay on topic.'

Louis was on Good Morning Britain alongside Strictly Come Dancing professional Natalie Lowe, who confirmed she has retired from the show this week.

Commenting on her shock departure, she said: 'I'm still pinching myself – have I made the right decision? But no, I have and I'm excited to see what's going to happen next.

'I was a part of that world for 14 years. It is my life, it's still my family and I will still be heavily involved doing choreography eventually. I could not have Strictly not be part of my life.'

Natalie also opened up about the three new dancers joining the show.

'I'm not very familiar with the new three dancers – but good luck to them," she said. "It's an amazing show, it's so intense and so full on every day of your life. Even when it's not on, it's still part of your life.

'Everyone is going to shine, how could you not on Strictly?'

Natalie and Louis were on the show to promote a new tour they are both performing in along with a host of other Strictly stars.

The Rip It Up tour kick-starts in Aberdeen later this year on September 4.
