We were pretty devastated to find out that Mel and Sue don’t plan to follow Great British Bake Off when it moves to Channel 4, making this their final year presenting the iconic show.
And the question of who can possibly replace our favourite comedy pairing looms large – although Jamie Oliver thinks he may have the answer.

Speaking to Good Housekeeping, the TV chef revealed that he would snap up none other than Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders for the role, if he were in charge.
‘If I was hiring I would be, like, French and Saunders straight away,’ says Jamie. ‘It’s got to be. I would love that.'

As for who should replace Mary Berry, who is also leaving the show, Jamie said: ‘Your natural instinct would be Delia (Smith) but I don't know if she would do it or not.’

Jamie said he understood why Mary had decided to leave the show, indicating that ‘work/life balance’ might be more of a priority for her now.
‘With Paul, he never had another thing,’ said Jamie, speaking of Paul Hollywood’s decision to stick with the show when it moves to Channel 4. ‘He has always been on the Bake Off. That’s his thing. So I think if I was him I would have done the same thing.’
