Last night saw the return of ITV’s heartwarming drama The Durrells, which follows a British family’s escapades in Corfu in the 1930s.

Keeley Hawes stars in the show as single mum Louisa Durrell, who’s navigating her new life abroad whilst keeping tabs on her four children Larry, Leslie, Margo and Gerry.

Viewers were thrilled to see the show back on screens, with many taking to Twitter to voice their happiness.


Many happy viewers made the point that Sunday night TV really is spoiling us at the minute; The Durrells is currently followed on the schedule by Line of Duty on BBC and Grantchester on ITV. Now, that’s what we call a perfect Sunday evening.

The period drama is based on the childhood of author Gerard Durrell, depicted in his book My Family and Other Animals.
