If you were looking for something to fill the Downton-shaped hole in your heart, new TV show Jamestown may be exactly what you’re looking for.
The new Sky 1 period drama is an eight-part series following Alice, Verity and Jocelyn, as they become the first women from England to settle in a new American colony.

But all is not rosy as the women find themselves entering a callous, male-dominated town – shipped over by their future husbands who they’ve never met.

And while the drama is a far cry from 20th century Downton (Jamestown is set in 1619 in Virginia), we reckon we’re in for a treat.
The cast includes Sophie Rundle (Brief Encounters and Peaky Blinders) and Max Beesley (Hotel Babylon and Mad Dog).
