The incomparable Dame Julie Andrews is about to light up our screens yet again. It's been over ten years since her last starring role in 2004's Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement, but now the legendary actress is teaming up with Netflix for an extraordinary comeback.
Best known for her iconic roles in The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins, of course, the beloved singer/actress/theatre icon will star in the new Netflix original series, Julie's Greenroom. She will play Ms. Julie, and per the official Netflix press release, her character is 'the director of the Wellspring Centre for the Performing Arts, in which she teaches performing arts workshops in the theatre and its "Greenroom".' The series will also star Giullian Gioiello, who plays her assistant Gus.

Ms. Julie's students will be a 'new generation of kids known as the 'Greenies,' who are adorable puppet characters, courtesy of The Jim Henson Company. Julie, who is the show's co-creator and executive producer, created the show with Emma Walton Hamilton (her daughter and the author of several children's books) and Judy Rothman-Rofe, who is best known for her work on the TV adaptation of Madeline.
The show started filming last month, and is set to be available for worldwide streaming in the early months of 2017. Apart from Julie herself, the series is already slated to have some big-name guest stars, like Alec Baldwin, Sara Bareilles, Carol Burnett, Josh Groban, and Idina Menzel. And, yes, there will be singing—Netflix is promising an original song in "most episodes."
