If you’re growing tired of the big baby question, it might be time to take a tip from this couple in Australia, who decided to stage a newborn baby style photoshoot with their puppy.
Helped by friend and photographer Elisha Minnette, the couple – Abby and Matt – recruited their much loved groodle (a golden retriever and poodle cross) Humphry to star in poses that are normally reserved for new parents and their bundle of joy.

Elisha, who regularly photographs newborns, families and weddings, helped guide the trio through tender and intimate arrangements, such as gazing at their little one in the pram, embracing as a new family of three, and even helping their pup walk for the first time.

It may look disturbingly realistic, but it was all intended to be a lighthearted joke, as well as a gentle reminder that some families are happy enough with their fur babies rather than real ones.

Writing on Facebook, where Elisha publicly shared the images, the photographer says, ‘Making people smile and having a laugh was our intention. After reading a lot of comments, I feel we achieved that.’
Since sharing the snaps on Facebook the shoot has gathered major interest from dog lovers around the world, who have shared the images over 8,000 times and so far left 7,368 comments.

Talking to BuzzFeed, Elisha explains that she and Abby came up with the idea while on a long drive to collect Humphry from a breeder.
‘Abby and I have the craziest sense of humour and we feed off of each other with ideas,’ she says. ‘The shoot was hilarious. Everything went so smoothly. The pup was enjoying every second of it – and all the treats he was getting!’
