Cameron's limited edition tea caddy

As the election storm batters us from all angles, let us take a breather from taxes, immigration and benefits and look at what's really important when it comes to choosing the leader of our country - coffee machines, bread makers and £2000 fridge freezers!

We have all heard about the party leaders letting the prying eyes of the media into their kitchens, but what appliance inspiration and style tips can be taken from Cameron's Oxfordshire retreat or Miliband's London town house.

Take a look and decide for yourself - and we promise that the only spinning you'll see here is from Nick Clegg using his kitchen as a dance floor...yes a dance floor!

What to read next

1. Tomato v. tomarto, kitchen v. kitchenette
It appears that there has been a bit of confusion in the media about what a kitchen actually is if, like Ed Miliband, you are lucky enough to be able to distinguish between your kitchen and kitchenette. So as you read on, decide just which of your kitchens you have in mind.

2. Stainless steel just won't do
Spotted in David Cameron's country kitchen during his BBC interview last month was not just any old fondue set, but a cast-iron one.

3. Fresh from the...bread maker
In another of Cameron's kitchen tours - this one in their private flat above Downing Street - sat a perfect, fresh, white bloomer on the counter. But was it kneaded by his own hands as he pictured the doughy complexion of his opponent? We think not, as Cameron has previously boasted about his Panasonic breadmaker.

4. Starbucks? No thank you!
One thing our party leaders do have in common is their love of state of the art coffee machines. Nicola Sturgeon is said to own a De’Longhi Prima Donna Avant which comes for the princely sum of anything bwteeen £720 and £1,500 - that's enough to get your heart pumping!

5. The only appliance you need is a takeaway menu
If you're Nicola Sturgeon, your local indian takeaway menu takes pride of place in the kitchen. Sturgeon joked with Susanna Reid on ITV's Good Morning Britain saying, "I like Indian takeaway - the fact we are on first name terms with the person who delivers it on a Friday night shouldn't allow you to read anything into my lifestyle."

6. The kitchen is a place for women... excuse me?!
When speaking about Nigel Farage, Marta Andreasen, UKIP MEP told the BBC, "He doesn't try to involve intelligent professional women in positions of responsibility in the party. He thinks women should be in the kitchen or in the bedroom." Well Mr Farage, we've got news for you!

7. Include some childhood favourites
David Cameron discreetly hides his PG tips in a limited edition Wallace and Gromit tin.

8. Chillingly pricey fridge freezers
Cameron also owns an impressive £2,005 Neff fridge freezer. With a 343-litre fridge capacity, it's one of the biggest on the market.

9. Glitter ball anyone?
Last month, Nick Clegg admitted to dancing around his kitchen to the pop hit All About That Base. Talking to ITV's Good Morning Britain, he said "We do sort of dance together a bit, we were all dancing in the kitchen to All About the Bass the other day and I don't think my kids were very impressed by my dancing but I enjoyed it.'

In reality, a ComRes survey for the Daily Mail and ITV News recently revealed that 71% of voters are not interested in the family lives of politicians. However, for the next few weeks, we will definitely be hearing every detail of our potential country leader's lives... including their kitchen sinks!
