Victoria Beckham has pledged to do all she can to help raise awareness and prevent the transmission of HIV from mothers to children, in her new role as UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador.

'I want to lend my voice. I want to make a difference and I am taking this very seriously,' the designer said in her speech at UN headquarters.

'One third of pregnant women in South Africa are HIV positive,' Annie has said. 'We can prevent their children being born with the virus if we let the women have access to treatment. If you do not allow that to happen, you’re going to have future generations simply being wiped out.'
