The room was bursting to the seams with inspiring females for the 2013 Women of the Year Awards yesterday at the Intercontinental Hotel in London. Here are the winners and attendees, and some of the touching words spoken by them at this truly inspiring and unforgettable event.

'I salute every woman of this world,' says supermodel and rights activist Waris Dirie on collecting her award for the Women Of The Year Campaigning Award 2013, sponsored by Sacla.

Dagenham Women Machinists

GH Editorial Director, Lindsay Nicholson, with the winners of the Good Housekeeping Outstanding Achievement Award, the Dagenham Women Machinists. 

The Dagenham Women Machinists are eight women who took part in the strikes for equal pay and recognition of skills that took place in 1968, and again in 1984-5, at the Ford car plant in Dagenham, Essex. These were: Vera Sime, Eileen Pullen, Gwen Davis, Sheila Douglass, Dora Challingsworth, Pamela Brown, Sarah Kavia and Bharti Patel.

ITV Lorraine's Inspirational Woman of the Year Award

Good Housekeeping cover star Lorraine Kelly with the winner of her Inspirational Women of the Year Award.

Marilyn Baldwin was voted by viewers of Lorraine's ITV show for her Think Jessica anti scamming campaign. The charity helps old and vulnerable people in the UK who are the potential victims of postal and telephone scams. Named after her Mum, Jessica, who was a victim of scammers, the initiative is supported by the local community and local police.

'When I think of the many marvellous, brave, clever, stoical, women I meet in my work, I realise just how lucky I am to be in a position to win this award. Women living in isolated, rural Africa are trapped by ill health, poverty and distance. They can never even dream that what they do will ever be seen, let alone recognised. I am lucky. I have had that opportunity,' says Andrea.
