Looking for a brilliant new crime thriller to fill your evenings with? Say hello to The Wall: The Orchard, the Canadian series that viewers have called “100% perfect”. The series follows a tough, experienced detective who returns to her native village in Canada to investigate an eerie death in her family’s orchard - and, as luck would have it, it's coming to Channel 4 later this week, courtesy of Walter Presents.
The Wall: The Orchard is the third instalment of the French-Canadian series The Wall - and it's set to be just as drama-filled as the previous two series, if not more. Enter Céline Trudeau (played by Isabel Richer), a detective tasked with looking into some particularly strange murders. This time round, a skeleton has been found in her uncle's orchard - and the discovery dredges up some dark family secrets of her own.
While we wait for The Wall: The Orchard to land on our screens, here’s everything you need to know about the series, including the cast, plot and how to watch it.
What to read next
What is The Wall about?
The French-Canadian drama series (there are subtitles!) first aired in Canada in 2019 as La Faille (in English, the title is The Wall: Cover Your Tracks). The first series was set in the real-world town of Fermont, a remote, freezing mining colony in Northern Canada. A giant structure located there - a row of buildings designed to block off the wind - gave the series its name of ‘The Wall’.
In series 1, the body of an exotic dancer was found in mysterious circumstances, and Quebec City Police sent one of their best detectives to investigate: Céline Trudeau (Isabel Richer), who wasn’t afraid of bending the rules. But when she arrived in the town, all the residents were intimately linked - meaning nobody was safe.
In the following instalment, The Wall: The Chateau Murder (which first aired in 2021), a man was found drowned in the bathtub of a luxury hotel - not by water, but by cement. The body belonged to an engineer - a disgraced one, who built a bridge that later collapsed, killing and injuring numerous people. Céline and her detective partner - the rookie Daphné Constant - were tasked with finding out who could have done it, and why.
What will happen in The Wall: The Orchard series 3?
This third eight-part series will find detective Céline Trudeau back in her native village - the fictional Applegrove. There - in a shocking turn of events - a skeleton is found in her Uncle Leopold's orchard, and the remains turn out to be someone related to her. Assisting Celine is local policeman Alex (Alexandre Landry), and they’re joined by another police officer, Johnny (Didier Lucien).
The official synopsis continues: “The remains are identified as her long-missing grandmother, leading Céline to confront her past. Teaming up with local officers, long-ago crimes surface as an old unsolved murder, Céline’s cousin’s death, is reopened under a new light.” As it turns out, Céline’s family are unpopular in the local area - and have a dark history attached to them: a history that’s about to be raked over in the public eye. Intriguing indeed!

What other Walter Presents dramas can I watch now?
Another Walter Presents drama that we’d highly recommend is Freezing Embrace, which follows a small Finnish town plagued by a string of ritualistic murders, and criminal inspector Antti Hautalehto is on the case. Alternatively, try Hellground, another sinister drama that follows some strange goings-on that occur when a charming village doctor arrives in his new role. You can watch both now via Channel 4.
