The Princess of Wales has a new piece of jewellery to add to her collection, and it’s steeped in personal history – as well as international diplomacy. During the US state visit this month, the Royal Family exchanged gifts with President Trump and First Lady Melania, to symbolise the unity and connection between the US and UK.
Before her engagement to Prince William, the Princess of Wales often wore jewellery by Tiffany & Co., the New York based jewellery designer. Being an American-based brand made this the perfect place to turn to when it came to selecting a gift. For this reason, the Trumps presented Kate with a vintage Elsa Peretti sterling zodiac cuff during the state visit, according to Town & Country.

The cuff is an iconic piece for Tiffany, and it continues a presidential tradition of gifting their jewellery to members of the Royal Family and British politicians.
For instance, during the same visit, Queen Camilla was also presented with a sentimental piece of jewellery by the US couple. The Queen was given a Tiffany brooch set with her birthstone – ruby – and that of Melania – diamond.
President Trump's two-day trip marked the second US state visit and saw the Royal Family welcome him and Melania with a state banquet, which was attended by senior royals, politicians, business people and public figures. On the evening, the Royal Family were dressed in full regalia, and Kate wore the Lover’s Knot tiara, which was owned by Queen Elizabeth II and was a favourite of Princess Diana.
There were also a number of official engagements and visits during the trip, including the Princess of Wales introducing First Lady Melania to the Scouts. They both drew with the children and participated in games and activities.
