If you recently binged ITV’s I Fought the Law (we defy you not to), you’ll have witnessed Sheridan Smith’s triumphant return to the small screen. And now, she’s bringing her brilliance to the stage in Woman in Mind, which is getting a limited (and no doubt sellout) West End run. The revival of Alan Ayckbourn’s psychological comedy is coming to the Duke of York’s Theatre and explores one woman’s fractured reality with heart and humour. When Susan sustains a bump to the head, her world splits in two - one mundane, one imagined - and we can’t think of anyone better than Sheridan to play the part.

David Sturzaker plays the iconic England manager, while Samantha Womack is outstanding in the role of team psychologist Pippa Grange.

Cliveden Literary Festival

Alain de Botton dubbed Cliveden “the most dignified and beautiful literary festival on the planet” – and we don’t disagree. This year, the stately home is playing host to speakers including Salman Rushdie and Rachel Eliza Griffiths, who will discuss their creative partnership; beloved actor Richard E. Filmed live from the West End, four-time Olivier Award winner Imelda plays a formidable mother opposite her real-life daughter Bessie Carter (Bridgerton) – but their characters are estranged; Vivie Warren (Bessie) is a woman ahead of her time, while her mother is a product of that old patriarchal order. The result is an exceptionally good mother-daughter story.

The Talented Mr Ripley UK Tour

The first ever UK tour of the stage adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s iconic, gripping novel (and, not forgetting the source material for the iconic 2000 film starring Jude Law and Matt Damon) is here. Opening at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham before touring the UK, The Crown’s Ed McVey stars as the titular Tom Ripley, who’s a nobody – until he’s offered an unexpected opportunity: travel to Italy and bring home the wealthy and carefree Dickie Greenleaf.
