The Good Daughter is Sky's latest searing crime drama offering based on the book of the same name and will star Sirens' Meghann Fahy and Bridesmaids’ Rose Byrne as Charlotte and Samantha Quinn, two sisters caught up in tragedy that dramatically changes the course of their lives. The upcoming series follows the Quinn sisters (Meghann Fahy and Rose Byrne), the daughters of controversial lawyer Rusty Quinn. Nearly three decades ago, their lives were torn apart by a brutal invasion of their rural home in Pikeville, Georgia, which left their mother dead. 28 years on, Charlotte has become a lawyer like her father - she's the perfect 'good daughter'. But when another shocking tragedy leaves the town traumatised once more - Charlotte and her family are once again plunged into a nightmare.

What is The Good Daughter about?

As we mentioned, the series is based on US author Karin Slaughter's 2017 novel of the same name. Set in a fictional small town in Georgia, it follows two sisters, Charlotte and Samantha Quinn (played by Meghann Fahy - pictured below in Sirens - and Rose Byrne), whose lives were fractured 28 years ago by a traumatic night of violence from a home invasion. That brutal event left them shaken and their mother dead - and the pair, along with their lawyer father, have been trying to piece the events together ever since.

Sky’s official synopsis continues: “When another attack splinters the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte is the first witness on the scene. Now a lawyer like her father, she’s forced to confront her own demons as the case twists through one shocking revelation after another. In the end, both she and Samantha find themselves wondering if the price of being the good daughter was worth it after all.”

Yes - Karin Slaughter is a renowned crime writer, having written more than 20 New York Times bestselling novels. The Good Daughter was a No. 1 Sunday Times bestseller, and is a searing blend of cold-case thriller and psychological suspense. After watching others adapt previous books, Karin decided to write The Good Daughter for TV herself. “It started just as a thought experiment to see if I could do it,” she told the LA Times about the adaptation. “I didn’t want to waste anybody’s time.”
