Strictly Come Dancing stars Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace are a sight to behold in Dance 'Til Dawn, and seeing the show is a wonderful way to spend an evening.

Of course, if you have no love for musicals or dance ensembles, this may not be for you, but for those who enjoy the melodious side of the West End, a trip to The Aldwych Theatre is a treat.

Is there a story?
Even for Strictly Come Dancing stars, keeping an audience engaged in dance segments for two hours (with an interval), would be tough without a plot.

What to read next

And the show does, most definitely, have a story.

Set in the golden age of 1940s Hollywood, it follows the tale of wronged Sadie Strauss (Flavia) and charmer Tony DeLuca (Vincent) as they contend with murder, blackmail and, naturally, romance.

Do they speak?
Flavia and Vincent are skilled dancers, but actors and singers they are not. In fact, they don’t say a word.

That said, there are words and there are songs. It is more of a musical than you would expect, with a very talented chorus and supporting actors.

The show is a combination of slapstick humour – brilliantly delivered by Teddy Kempner as a hapless mafia stooge and Abbie Osmon, who plays the glamorous Lana Clamenza – and epic group performances. And in between, the pair move the story along with short funny scenes that have enough of a deadpan delivery to fall just short of panto.

Be warned, it is silly.

How good is the dancing?
The dancing is, without a doubt, the main event.

Strictly fans will be so entranced they will even stop trying to identify which dancing style Vincent and Flavia are using, though everyone will instantly recognise their signature tango.

From group numbers that have you bopping in your seat to arresting solos, these dances really do tell a story.

A creative use of the moving set and seamless integration of modern songs and jazz-crooner classics means there is never a dull moment.
