BBC Breakfast star Nina Warhurst has welcomed her third child with husband Ted.

News of Nina's new arrival was shared on the BBC One show by colleague Sally Nugent, who shared some details alongside a photo of the new parents with their newborn.

"She has welcomed a very healthy, beautiful baby girl," said Sally.

Co-presenter Jon Kay added that there was no baby name to share as yet, with it being very much a "work in progress".

"The great news is they're all doing well after what Nina said was brilliant care from the team at St Mary's in Manchester," Jon said, adding: "Isn't she gorgeous?"

Nina said a temporary farewell to viewers in late June, sharing a heartfelt Instagram post marking the start of her maternity leave.

"TTFN to the best job @bbcbreakfast," read the caption. "Did I manage to use my last shift to shoehorn in one last plea for us all to do better with #dementia awareness? Course I did ๐Ÿ˜."

She shared a photo of herself holding a bunch of flowers and waving goodbye. Poking fun at herself in the post, Nina added: "((Waving to absolutely nobody here btw. Who does she think she is? ๐Ÿ™„))"

Nina's Instagram gallery also included a clip of her on the BBC Breakfast sofa advocating for greater dementia awareness and support for carers.

She also shared a photo of former US president Barack Obama waving as the final slide in the gallery.

Nina announced she was expecting her third child in an Instagram post commemorating Mother's Day. She chose a picture of her proudly cradling her sizeable bump in front of BBC Breakfast's iconic red sofa.

"Happy Mother's Day to all of those who are any part of this endless handover of love, values, genes, chaos and perpetually crumb-infested kitchens," her caption read. "I'd like to say 'you got this Mama!' But maybe you haven't. I dunno. It's hard isn't it?"

Days later, Nina revealed the baby's sex in an Instagram story whilst attending a music gig by musician Self Esteem.

"One for the baby girl," she wrote as the caption for her video. "First gig."

The journalist is already mum to two boys Digby and Michael. She lives with husband Ted in Manchester, who runs catering company Fed by Ted.

The couple first met in Tisno, Croatia in 2013 and married on March 21, 2014.
