The best travel mugs for leakproof drinks on the go

This stylish travel mug has a pleasing curved design that means a comfortable grip. The push-button seal effectively closes the lid and prevents any spillages (this can also be locked to ensure the button isn’t pressed accidentally while on the move).

It didn’t quite live up to its claims when it came to heat retention as I found the drink was only lukewarm after five hours, as opposed to hot, as promised. However, it was still hot to drink after half an hour, so it shouldn’t be a problem if you gulp your coffee down as quickly as I do!

It was good at keeping drinks cold, so you’ll also be able to use it for some much-needed refreshment during summer.

This is now my go-to coffee cup for commutes thanks to its compact size, which makes it easy to grip and drink from on my way into the office. It kept drinks hot – even keeping my tea warm when I forgot to drink it – and the lid was super secure. I turned it on its head multiple times and not a drop came out.

The instructions recommend hand washing but I’ve popped it in the dishwasher a few times already and have had no issues so far. I really do love it.

You may know Chilly’s for its sell-out water bottles (which, as the name suggests, are designed to keep drinks cold), but the brand has used all that expertise to develop a portable cup to keep drinks warm, too. It doesn’t keep them hot for hours on end, but my coffees were still acceptably warm after 30 minutes – I even had to leave the lid off for a bit!

Not only does this mug look good, but it’s also well-designed. The rotational stopper on the sip hole prevents spillages, while the outer casing stays cool to the touch. Just note that it might take a couple of thorough hand washes to get rid of that lingering metallic taste.

For those who drink their coffee or tea quite slowly, this is a great pick as I found it kept drinks hot for up to an hour and a half after filling. I was also impressed by its leakproof test – I could turn it completely upside down and still nothing came out!

There isn’t a dedicated hole to sip from so I felt a little cautious drinking from it at times, and the lip of the mug is quite defined, so it isn’t the most comfortable to drink from. But those are minor niggles for a sleek, leakproof mug. Plus, to top it all off, it’s dishwasher-friendly.

This budget travel mug shouldn’t be overlooked. It kept our tea warm, even for longer periods, and there was no metallic aftertaste.

I don’t think the design is the best – there’s no designated sipping hole, so I had to unscrew the entire lid to drink each time, but it’s well-made (especially considering the price tag) and leakproof.

With a great range of bright colours, this flask will help you start your day on a cheerful note. The twist-lock lid gave me extra confidence about its leakproof claims and the lip around the edge of the mug was comfortable to sip from.

Unlike most travel cups, this also comes with a carry handle at the top for ease when you’re on the go. The design isn’t the most ergonomic, lacking any curves or grippy area to hold, but this didn’t impact my overall coffee-drinking experience.

This mug comes in both 355ml and 473ml capacities – the latter is ideal if you’re heading out for the whole day and need some caffeine to keep you going.

I found it effective at keeping drinks both hot and cold the whole time I was drinking, and it’s easy to sip from on the go. However, it’s only leakproof when you screw the lid on extra tight and lock the cap, so make sure you double check it before chucking in your bag.

This mug allowed me to make coffee at home and still be able to drink it in the office a few hours later. I love the sleek stainless-steel design but found the sides could become slightly warm to the touch, unlike some of the other mugs I’ve tried.

Unfortunately, this mug wasn’t very leakproof either, so I’d recommend keeping in your hand or in a bottle compartment on the outside of your bag to be on the safe side.

There’s lots to love about this affordable mug. It has a large 450ml capacity, which I loved, and it’s tall and slim, so it still fits inside a car cup holder.

It didn’t leak when I popped it in my handbag, and it kept both hot and cold drinks at a good temperature throughout the whole time I was enjoying my drink. The brushed chrome finish isn’t really my style, but it still ticks lots of boxes and I’d certainly recommend it to a friend.
