East London based home fragrance brand Earl of East has just launched a brand-new range of candles and they're all inspired by foods from an Italian harvest season. Good luck trying not to eat them (yes, they're truly that convincing).
This fun new launch comes off the back of their Primavera Estate Collection (the first drop came out in summer), featuring citronella, cherry and grape, and this second instalment features gourmand candles that celebrate the richness of the Italian harvest with three very unexpected scents: Pasta, Carciofo (Artichoke) and Chinotto (Bitter Orange).
The collection perfectly captures the warmth of slow Sundays around the table and the deep, savoury flavours of seasonal Italian produce. Each candle is blended with rich fragrance and essential oils, offering up to 55 hours of burn time, and the packaging is just as delicious as the foods they represent - featuring bold, graphic illustrations. They are the perfect gift for any foodie or fragrance fan (I'm already stocking up for Christmas presents).
What to read next
Whether you’re dreaming of your next Italian escape or want to bring some Mediterranean magic to your home, the collection is like an invitation into an authentic Nonna's house. Here's what each candle actually smells like:
Pasta Scented Candle (250ml for £40.00):
Don't let the name fool you on this one. It doesn't smell strictly like a savoury salty bath of water, but it does have a familiar, homely aroma. It smells rich and buttery, with a hint of salt and something herby - like a touch of dried basil or mint. It smells rich and extremely comforting. And with a touch of semolina flour.
Chinotto/Bitter Orange Scented Candle (250ml for £40.00):
This is one for the floral lovers. It smells so beautifully of bergamot and neroli, with a hint of uplifting citrus, too. It's intoxicating - as if you've just walked into a field of beautifully fragrant flowers, and somewhat feels a bit festive too. This one is perfect for the cooler autumnal months ahead.
Carciofo/Artichoke Scented Candle (250ml for £40.00):
This might be our favourite aroma of the three if we had to pick just one and would love to see this one as a perfume one day (take note please, Earl of East). Rich with a hint of sultry leather - a little bit decadent but also light at the same time. It has top notes of artichoke, green leaf, olive leaf and thyme, harmonised for an addictive scent that you'll want to wear.
If we had to choose our absolute favourite from the three? We'd say it's a tough call between Pasta and Chinotto. The bitter orange candle feels like the perfect Christmas gift, whilst the pasta really feels comforting and homely - so perfect for right now with this dreary, grey weather! The candles are available now from Earl of East's website.
