There’s nothing quite as satisfying as dunking a biscuit into a nice, warm cuppa. And research has found that a dunked biscuit really does taste nicer.
And it's all to do with the aroma of the biscuits.
During a recent episode of Inside the Factory on BBC Two, Dr Ian Fisk compared how many aromas were released when eating a non-dunked biscuit, and one that had been dunked.

The results showed that the dunked biscuit produced twice the number of aromas than a dry one – which apparently positively affects the taste of food.

‘The aroma compounds and taste compounds can diffuse out to the mouth and the nose much more efficiently,’ Dr Fisk said about a dunked biscuit.
‘For me it definitely tastes better. I can taste the nuttiness and the sweetness better,’ presenter Cherry Healey adds, who unfortunately had to have a tube stuck up her nose for the experiment.
So if you’re an anti-dunker, it might be time to change your mind…
