It was sparkles all round as the new cast and contestants for Strictly Come Dancing 2017 hit the red carpet for the show’s launch night.

Although there were plenty of familiar faces among the professional dancers and judges, there were also plenty of new additions.

Latin dancer Shirley Ballas will be replacing Len Goodman as head judge, joining Darcey Bussell, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.

Everyone was dressed up to the nines for the red carpet launch, including the celebrity contestants.

Mollie King dazzled in a fringed yellow minidress, which she wore with a chunky gold bracelet.

Actress Gemma Atkinson wore a red tasselled dress to make her grand entrance, while Alexandra Burke wore a similar style in orange.

Blue was the colour of choice for presenters Charlotte Hawkins and Ruth Langsford; Charlotte rocked a 1920s style flapper dress while Ruth looked sensational in a spangly off-the-shoulder number.

Debbie McGee looked fabulous in pink (again with obligatory tassels) and her hair piled high in a beehive style.

Actress Chizzy Akudolu and comedian Susan Calman were also turning out the glamour in sparkly block colour gowns.

It wasn’t just the girls going for glitter – plenty of the male contestants also wore a sequin or two with their embellished Latin outfits.

And let’s not forget Claudia and Tess, who looked ravishing as always. Claudia’s £320 Self Portrait dress embodied her quirky style, while Tess opted for a classic black gown with double thigh splits.

It’s all getting us pretty excited for the show’s return – it’ll be back on our screens on September 9, BBC One.
