It's awards season, and last night (29 Jan) saw stars descend on the Shine Auditorium in LA for this year's Screen Actor's Guild Awards. And the carpet was filled with an array of stunning gowns.

The Crown star Claire Foy stole the show, alongside co-star Matt Smith, in a sheer Valentino gown with a contract collar.

Claire also picked up the awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in the Netflix drama.

Amy Adams kept it casual, but chic, in a black Brandon Maxwell gown with statement matching earrings, necklace and bracelet. She was nominated for her role in Arrival in the lead female actore category, but was beaten by La La Land actress Emma Stone.

The main colour scheme of the night seemed to be white, and plenty of female stars dazzled in the colour.

Meryl Streep looked gorgeous in a bird printed Valentino gown, while Kirsten Dunst opted for Dior.

Viola Davis, who normally rocks bold colours on the carpet, stepped up out in a strapless Vivienne Westwood gown and statement necklace, while Brie Larson looked gorgeous in a custom Jason Wu halterneck maxi.

Michelle Dockery, Allen Leech and Laura Carmichael also hit the red carpet to represent the cast of Downton Abbey, who were nominated for the Best Cast in a TV Drama Series.

Michelle looked incredible in a striped, thigh split Elie Saab dress, while Laura looked radiant in a floral embroidered Christopher Kane gown.

Winners for the evening include The Crown who won two awards, La La Land and Moonlight.
