Gingham is making a big comeback for spring/summer 2017

Red, yellow or blue? Whatever colour dress you wore for primary school, it was probably made from gingham.

However, if you thought your gingham-wearing days were behind you then think again - it's making a huge comeback as one of this year’s biggest spring/summer trends.

The 90s print was seen all over the S/S17 runways and is now flooding stores in forms of tops, trousers, dresses, skirts and even shoes.

Wendy Rigg, Senior Fashion Editor at Good Housekeeping, says, 'For an instant spring update, introduce fresh pretty gingham into your wardrobe.

'You could try a top with frills or interesting sleeve detail with your favourite slim cut jeans, or plain black cropped trousers. For a smart look, wide-legged palazzo trousers will work with a white T-shirt, slip on loafers and a blazer.

‘If you'd like to make a subtle nod to the trend, try gingham pumps with ankle ties – so pretty. On warmer sunnier days, an off-the-shoulder top and culottes will be a go-to staple, or cropped gingham trousers will bring a Riviera feel to your style. Roll on warmer days!'
