One thing we’ll always admire about Trinny Woodall is how she keeps it real – from applying a full face of makeup in the back of a cab to showing off her grey roots, she’s never shy about getting candid when it comes to beauty. And now, Trinny is opening up about another topic: facial hair.
Yes – we all have it! From that fine peach fuzz to those stray hairs that suddenly appear on your chin out of nowhere, it’s completely normal. So, to remove or not remove? The choice is entirely yours, but for Trinny, threading is the go-to.
In a video shared to Instagram, Trinny lies on the beauty salon table, doubling up on treatments as she gets her brows tinted and her facial hair threaded – must be maintenance day! ‘Now I’ve threaded with Nisha for 20 years, and I have got less and less hair over time – I had a beard! Lots of fluffy hair,’ Trinny tells the camera.

If you do choose to remove the fuzz, you have a myriad of methods at your disposal. In the clip, Trinny’s beauty therapist, Nisha, breaks down the difference between two of the most popular methods: ‘With dermaplaning, you’re cutting the hair; with threading, you’re pulling from the follicle, which produces more than one hair.’
If you’ve ever overplucked your brows, you’ll know that any method of hair removal that pulls hair from the root can result in thinner, sparser regrowth. Which, of course, is great if you’re trying to reduce facial hair, though perhaps less so if you’re left with permanently thin 90s-style brows!
‘Threading isn’t likely to stop facial hair growing back completely, but over time, repeated threading sessions can often lead to hair growing back finer and weaker,’ says Sherrille Riley, founder of Nails & Brows Mayfair. ‘It’s also usual for hair to take longer to grow back if you have threading done regularly and consistently.’
That being said, if the idea of pulling out hair doesn’t appeal, GH beauty director Lynne Hyland is a fan of dermaplaning, which is the fancy salon name for shaving the fine vellus hair. And yes – it’s far more common than you think. In fact, even A-lister Scarlett Johansson is a fan! If it sounds more up your alley, you can read Lynne’s full guide on dermaplaning here.
While neither threading nor dermaplaning is essential, if you do choose to give it a go, there are added perks beyond a fuzz-free face. Makeup tends to sit more smoothly on the skin, with no clinging to fine hairs. Plus, as Lynne notes, it offers instant gratification, leaving skin with an immediately smoother appearance.
So, while facial hair removal may not be the most glamorous of beauty treatments, it’s definitely a confidence-booster!
