Chances are, you'll first notice the signs of ageing around your eyes, be that crow's feet, or as we prefer to call them ‘smile lines’ (those fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes), or dark, puffy circles that just won't budge. That's because the skin in this area is more delicate than elsewhere on the face and body.

While lines and wrinkles are a natural part of getting older, if you're looking to firm and brighten the area around your eyes, introducing one of our experts' best anti-ageing eye creams into your skincare routine could make a big difference.

Here are the Good Housekeeping Institute's tried and tested picks at a glance, but read on for the fuller reviews.

Our trusted panel of over 1,000 beauty testers tried a range of hydrating, anti-wrinkle eye creams for a minimum of a month, and the products listed below all made a noticeable difference. How we test anti-ageing eye creams

double line break

Over 1,000 beauty testers tried 82 anti-ageing eye creams designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as tackle puffiness and dark circles. Over a month-long trial, they assessed the effect each cream had on fine lines, deep wrinkles, moisture levels and firmness.

Back in the Good Housekeeping Institute beauty lab, our experts measured exactly how much of an impact each eye cream had on our panel's fine lines and wrinkles with the help of a VISIA Complexion Analyser, which is able to measure the health of the skin, looking at fine lines, wrinkles, texture, pores, pigmentation and more.

Why trust the Good Housekeeping Institute

double line break

We’ve been testing products at the Good Housekeeping Institute for over 100 years – from the best day creams and best retinol serums to the best hair dryers and best LED face masks.

Our beauty and grooming test manager, Maria Kumar, led the testing for eye creams, creating strict protocols to analyse each cream against its claims and ensure unbiased results. With a diploma in cosmetic science and years of product development within the beauty industry under her belt, she knows exactly how to assess the efficacy of every claim.

Our beauty writer, Florence Reeves-White, then analyses both the lab results and panel feedback to create the most honest and accurate reviews possible. She has written hundreds of product reviews over the years, so knows the important things to highlight to readers.
