Who says blondes have more fun? Pamela Anderson may have long been the cover girl for that trope — but now she’s proving it doesn’t always hold true. Over the last few years, Pamela has been reinventing herself: from ditching the smokey eyes in turn for pioneering the no-makeup movement, to her edgy boxed bob at the Met Gala, and more recently unveiling Grace Kelly-esque curls. But last night, she left the GH beauty team’s jaws on the floor with a look that marks her most dramatic beauty transformation yet.

We know that Pamela has never shied away from a little experimentation, but still, her latest look took us all by surprise. She traded in her iconic blonde tresses and stepped into the new season as a redhead, debuting a softly-cropped, copper style that we never saw coming.

Once the initial surprise wore off, the GH team took a closer look at her fresh locks. The copper colour has a beautiful dimension — a rich, autumnal hue that completely warms up her features. It’s a shade celebrity hairstylist and salon founder, Melissa Timperley, predicted would define the season, dubbing it ‘Smoked Copper’.

‘This colour offers a moodier, more sophisticated take on classic copper. Unlike the bright, fiery orange-red shades we usually associate with copper, smoked copper blends in deeper undertones — think russet, auburn and even brown lowlights — creating a dimensional, ember-like glow that feels both rich and wearable,’ she explains.

It’s no secret that copper has been a major defining hair colour of 2025, and if you’ve been on the fence, this could be the shade to try: ‘It’s far lower maintenance than traditional copper, as the darker, smoked roots make regrowth less obvious and the muted tones soften any fading. It also flatters a wider range of skin tones than the brighter copper tones we’ve seen, from warm to cool,' she says.

Seasonally, Pamela’s timing could not be more on point: ‘What makes it exciting right now is how well it complements the earthy, textured fashion palette of autumn — rust, terracotta, leather and knits.’ Melissa adds.

Pamela’s transformation didn’t stop at the colour; in fact, her usually polished, old Hollywood bob has undergone a refresh too, with short, choppy layers that bring an effortless texture. Bed Head’s creative director, Philip Downing, calls it ‘The Soft-Cropped Mop’. ‘I’m predicting cropped cuts with natural waves will dominate over the autumn months. This style features a short cut with soft, tousled layers and waves that frame the face’ he says.

For those with natural waves, it’s one of the most low-maintenance styles around (ideal for the darker mornings when you want a few extra minutes spent in bed!). But, if you want to emphasise those flicks, à la Pamela, Philip has the key: ‘To achieve the signature flicks, use a styling tool — I’d suggest a curling wand — combined with a styling cream, as this will encourage natural movement as well as help to define your hair’s texture, without weighing it down.’

We’re certain Pammy’s pic will be inspiring countless salon visits in the weeks to come.
