We’re used to seeing Nicole Kidman in red carpet mode, with sleek, blown-out hair. But now a gorgeous new batch of personal photos show her fully embracing her natural curls, alongside her equally curly-haired daughters.
The actress is the latest celebrity to embrace the natural beauty movement, ditching her straighteners and celebrating her hair’s natural texture. It’s an effortlessly gorgeous look she’ll be delighted her daughters are embracing just as enthusiastically.
Nicole recently admitted that straightening her hair back in the 90s was her biggest beauty regret. She also revealed that it now takes more work to get her natural curls to bounce back – but these snaps show it’s worth the effort.

In a new Instagram post, which Nicole captioned: ‘Summer memories ❤️ Now back to school ✨’ the actress shared some sweet, sun-soaked snaps of her family getaway ahead of the new school term. From diving into the sea to enjoying festivals together, the photos radiated absolute joy — but it was the curly Kidman hair that truly stole the spotlight.
In adorable snaps with her daughters, Faith, 17 and Sunday, 14, it’s clear that the curly-girl genes run strong. The teens look like mini-mes of Nicole, all sporting their gorgeous matching waves.
The photos also show Nicole alongside her younger sister, Antonia, who is a journalist and TV presenter.
The post immediately caught the attention of fans who were quick to share their love for the revival of Nicole’s natural hair; it even caught the eye of some celebs, too. Reese Witherspoon was among the commenters, saying, ‘Look at all that gorgeous hair!’
It can be easy to forget that Nicole’s hair is naturally curly; after all, we’re used to seeing her locks smoothed and styled for big Hollywood events. But, look back at the early days of her career, and you’ll see that her curls flowed freely.
In an interview with Allure, Nicole looked back at photos from Days of Thunder, from when she was just 23. ‘Why did I straighten my hair? I love my hair there. That is my natural hair. Isn’t that crazy?’ she lamented
It’s a lesson she’s clearly keen to pass on, adding, ‘Little girls out there, embrace the curl! Do not follow in my steps and straighten your hair’. Luckily, it seems her daughters have taken on their mother's advice.
Even after years of straightening, Nicole is proof that you can get your curls back with the right care, and well, the right weather. In the same interview, she explained: ‘When you blow-dry and scrunch your hair, the curl comes back in abundance. I can do that to my hair still, but it needs to be kind of humid’, which might explain why she’s leaning into her curls now. And really, what better time to embrace them than on a sun-filled holiday?
