What’s a decade or three between Friends? It’s been over 30 years since Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox shot to fame on the beloved US sitcom, and they’ve just cemented their all-time hair icon status all over again – with an epic selfie.
The duo have just shared an adorable new photo together, showing they’re just as inseparable as they were in their days of playing New York flat-sharing BFFs and being the original beauty influencers.
As Jennifer and Courteney’s joint caption says: “We look so cute next to each other…” and the 750,000-plus Instagram likes suggests they’re not wrong. Or as White Lotus actress Michelle Monaghan puts it: “This duo. ❤️🙌❤️”

Back in the 90s, an entire generation coveted Monica’s big, immaculately teased hair, and/or dashed off to the hairdressers clutching pictures of The Rachel cut. Despite Jennifer later declaring it “the ugliest hair cut she’d ever seen”, her character’s heavily-layered style launched a thousand snips, and continues to be one of the most referenced ‘dos of the past three decades.
Even Jennifer herself has given up the fight, and has opted for a reworked nod to the Friends' original. In her new selfie with Courteney, the actress can be seen with those famous choppy pieces continuing to fall around her cheekbones, and Rachel's signature lighter pieces framing her face.
For the 2025 reworking, though, the back-combed crown has been turned down to a more subtle volume level, and the heavily-flicked and rounded ends have given way to beachy ghost waves. The chunkier 90s highlights have also been diffused to a gentler sprinkling of babylights, giving a pretty, sun-kissed effect,
The selfie also shows how Courteney’s big and bouffy Monica barnet has softened to a much more modern, flattering and lived-in hair style. Her brunette hair now falls in what looks like a soft, natural wave as she and Jen cuddle for the phone camera on a boardwalk.
There is, though, one little call-back to their Friends days. As the sea breeze ruffles Courteney’s hair and adds a slight frizz halo to her silhouette, we can’t help but be reminded of The One where Monica’s hair puffed up in the humidity of Barbados.
Luckily for Courteney, there’s help right at hand: in the form of Jennifer’s hair range. A proper read of the caption and a swipe to the second photo in the carousel reminds us that the pair have taken their beauty influencer status to a new level, with their own beauty ranges.
The second shot segues from selfie to shelfie, with Jennifer’s LolaVie hair products nestled in a shower next to a body wash from Courteney’s Homecourt brand. The girls’ full Instagram caption reads: “We look so cute next to each other….so do they 😉♥️” Ahh, we see what you did there, ladies!
As it happens, the LolaVie products in the photo could come in particularly handy for Courteney’s windswept locks. Restorative Conditioner promises “12x softer, smoother, more manageable hair when used as a system with Restorative Shampoo”, so let’s hope Jen keeps her BFF well stocked up.
