It's not often Al Roker gets to have his family members join him at his day job!
The Today show anchor recently released his cookbook Al Roker's Recipes to Live By with his daughter Courtney Roker Laga, and the two got together to do a cooking demo on the October 15 taping. The two whipped up some yummy recipes from their new title (including salmon burgers with mayo herb sauce and shortbread banana pudding), but as the segment came to a close, someone special came out to visit her family on the air.
Who was the surprise guest, you may ask? It was none other than Al's granddaughter Sky Clara Laga, who joined her mom and "pop pop" while being brought out by her dad (and Courtney's husband) Wes Laga. And if that's not enough, Al couldn't stop gushing about Sky marking her first time on Today after the segment aired.
"Baby Sky made her TODAY debut. 🥹🧡," read the caption on Instagram. "Al’s granddaughter, his daughter Courtney and son-in-law Wes brought so much joy to the studio this morning!"
Upon seeing Al's sentimental family moment on Today, fans couldn't get enough of Sky making a surprise appearance with her mom, dad and grandfather.
"Beyond precious!! 🥰🤗," one person wrote in the comments on Instagram."I loved seeing your family this morning and Sky is the cutest baby ❤️," another agreed. "Al as a grandpa would be next level 🙌," a different viewer added.
As fans may remember, Al announced Courtney was pregnant back in March 2023, with Sky being born that July. Al has since embraced being a grandparent to the fullest extent, and he even penned an emotional note earlier in the summer to celebrate Sky's first birthday.
Speaking of Sky, Courtney opened up about her daughter's food preferences while speaking to Parade ... and it turns out she has quite the palette!
"Oh, Sky's very open-minded," she told the outlet. "She had eel sushi the other day. She likes chicken, salmon, any type of fish ... She eats ice cream, but she's like, 'Alright, ice cream. Not that big of a deal.'"
Here's to seeing more sweet appearances from Sky in the future!
