Dylan Dreyer is sharing an update about how her friend and co-worker Sheinelle Jones is holding up during an incredibly difficult time.

Sheinelle has been absent from the Today show since December 2024, and fans later learned it was to take care of her family amid her late husband Uche Ojeh's battle with brain cancer. In May 2025, Sheinelle's Today family and fans rushed to console her as news broke of Uche's death at age 45. And while everyone is giving the news anchor time to grieve and be present for the couple's children (sons Kayin and Uche and daughter Clara), some are hoping for the chance to see her on the Today show once again.

While it's unclear if and when Sheinelle will return to daytime TV, Dylan did give a rare update on how her friend is doing. When speaking to Access Hollywood at the ACC Celebrity Golf Championship back in July, Dylan noted that right now Sheinelle is just trying to be a support system for her kids during this time in their lives.

"Oh, she's incredible. You know, she's in mom mode right now. She has three young kids that she has to care for. It's a really tough time for the family. We are all there to support her in any way we can and she's just taking the time she needs to spend with those kids. I can't even imagine what they're going through, what she's going through, and she's just being strong for them."

As fans know, this isn't the first time Dylan has opened up about how Sheinelle is doing amid everything that occurred for her family this year.

Dylan previously spoke out on the subject back in May, when she confirmed that the Today cast would be ready to welcome Sheinelle back whenever she's ready. And as Dylan noted, her co-workers are incredible people to lean on during tough times.

"It really is like a family," Dylan added during the July interview. "We call each other all the time, even just ... you know, Al Roker's the first person to send me a handwritten letter and just be like, 'Hey, just want you to know I'm proud of you.' And it's like, 'Oh, Al!'"

We are sending all our love to Sheinelle and her family.
