And while people are eager to see Cillian reprise his role as Tommy Shelby in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, it looks like he is exploring another acting gig for Netflix.
Thanks to an announcement made on Netflix's Instagram on August 13, folks learned Cillian will star in a new movie called Steve. Debuting in theaters on September 19, 2025 and streaming on Netflix beginning October 3, the site also decided to give fans a quick synopsis about what to expect alongside a movie trailer for the upcoming film.
"At a reform school in mid-90s England, lost boys get one last chance," the caption read. "STEVE, starring Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy, coming to select theaters September 19th and on Netflix October 3rd."
Given Cillian's popularity with his acting ability, folks couldn't get enough of the fact he'll be starring in a brand-new project.

So, what exactly is Steve about? According to a report from People, the movie is based on Max Porter's 2023 novel Shy. Additionally, the outlet also received an official synopsis from Netflix of what the movie will entail.
"The film follows a pivotal day in the life of headteacher Steve [Cillian] and his students at a last-chance reform school amidst a world that has forsaken them," the statement read. "As Steve fights to protect the school’s integrity and impending closure, we witness him grappling with his own mental health. In parallel to Steve’s struggles, we meet Shy (portrayed by Jay Lycurgo), a troubled teen caught between his past and what lies ahead as he tries to reconcile his inner fragility with his impulse for self-destruction and violence."
