When Generation Gap first premiered on ABC in July 2022, fans loved seeing TV personality Kelly Ripa get into her game show era.

The premise of the series was simple. Hosted by the Live With Kelly and Mark star, family members from different generations competed in pairs to answer a number of pop culture questions in exchange for cash. At the end of each episode, one duo would advance to the "Toddler's Choice" winning round, where the youngest family member chose the prize for everyone: between a new car and a kids' toy.

Generation Gap quickly became a success and later got renewed for season 2, which aired beginning in June 2023. But as a new season of summer game shows air on ABC in 2024, fans are left wondering about the status of Generation Gap season 3. Was Generation Gap cancelled? If it was renewed for a new season, when will season 3 premiere?

Well, we have some answers for you, though folks likely won't be thrilled by the latest news.

As of right now, it's hard to tell whether Generation Gap will be back for season 3.

In an article published by TV Insider on July 2, a fan wrote into the outlet to inquire about it after noticing the show wasn't on ABC's summer schedule. But there is a silver lining, as the publication noted.

"With shows like these that aren’t part of the regular schedule, appearing in the off-season or whenever the network has a hole to fill, it’s hard to know when they’re over for good or just on hiatus," the article read. "While Generation Gap is not part of the summer lineup, the show still is shown as active on ABC’s press site ... I’d expect we’ll see it return when the network wants or needs it."

In so many words, it looks like there is a chance Generation Gap will return to TV — it's just unclear exactly when.

Well, we're keeping our fingers crossed for new episodes to eventually air!
