Repeatedly outperforming much pricier models on the market in our evaluations, the bed is a favorite among our testers, staffers, and GH+ survey panelists.

Allswell's Luxe Hybrid mattress was previously available in one firmness level: Medium-Firm. The brand now offers the same mattress as a Medium model and also carries an Extra-Firm model (previously sold as The Brick). The majority of our testing focuses on the Medium mattress.

A Queen-size model is priced at just $387, which is an affordable option, especially for a hybrid bed that combines foam and metal coils. Most importantly, the mattress doesn't feel cheap or skimp out on quality, and our testers have compared it to higher-end options. One shared, "It feels like sleeping on a real, plush hotel mattress but at a fraction of the price."
✔️ DIY installers
The mattress is conveniently delivered straight to your door in a box (with no added shipping fee!), and our survey panelists said delivery time is quick. However, there's no white-glove service or mattress retrieval included, which means you are responsible for taking care of setup and getting rid of your old bed. From personal experience, this can be a bit of a pain, and some testers agreed, including one who said, "The box was quite heavy. It took two of us to move it to the bedroom." But I still think the incredibly low price is worth the extra effort upfront.
✔️ Most body types and sleep positions
The Luxe Hybrid Mattress is now listed by Allswell as having a medium feel, but from our first-hand evaluations and tester feedback, we've found it to be a medium-to-medium-firm feel, making it a great option for most sleep positions. Here's why:
- Side sleepers generally benefit from a medium-firmness level like this because it allows for proper spinal alignment. There's pressure relief around spots like the hips and shoulders, but the bed still offers support. It might be too firm for some—especially those with a lower body weight who don’t put as much pressure on the bed—it’s a good fit for side sleepers that prefer a slightly firmer feel.
- Stomach sleepers benefit from a firmer surface, so this feel could be a great fit if you don’t want your bed to feel overly hard.
- Back or combination sleepers are both likely to like the feel of the Allswell Luxe Hybrid. If you sleep on your back or change positions overnight, we recommend your firmness level should fall somewhere between a side sleeper (who needs a softer mattress) and a stomach sleeper (who needs a firmer one).
Note: If you have a higher body weight, you might find more comfort in the Extra Firm model, which is designed with more high-density foam and less memory foam for an overall firmer feel. Our testers with larger frames found the bed to be firm enough for back sleeping.
How it performed in our tests

The hybrid bed has earned top marks for comfort from side, stomach, back, and combination sleepers like myself. Users said the Medium mattress isn't too hard or too soft, sharing that the mattress provides cradling cushion and feels supportive. One survey panelist who has previously slept on all-foam and traditional innerspring beds shared, "The Luxe Hybrid model is perfect. A full-foam mattress is too squishy feeling. This mattress is supportive and plush." A tester commented, "I like the support that it provides without being as firm as concrete," and emphasized, "I wake up feeling refreshed." Many survey panelists also noted that the bed helps to relieve their back pain, and said that they don't wake up feeling sore.

While the bed excels in comfort, it lacks in edge support. Compared to other mattresses I've tested, the Luxe Hybrid model isn't quite as structured around the perimeter. When I sat at the edge of the mattress, I found myself sinking in, which could make it more challenging to get in and out of bed. This is a common downside of many affordable mattresses and even some higher-end, all-foam beds.
✔️ Motion isolation
Thanks to the mattress's construction featuring individually wrapped coils, the bed has decent motion isolation, meaning you're less likely to notice when your partner tosses and turns or a pet moves around the bed. Testers agreed that they weren't disturbed by movement throughout the night, and added that they achieved restful sleep with this mattress. I was personally able to sleep peacefully and uninterrupted, even when my curious cats jumped up on the bed in the middle of the night or my husband shifted.

The mattress isn't a cooling mattress, but its hybrid construction (memory foam and metal coils) allows for better airflow than a dense all-foam mattress. Our testers and survey panelists said they remained at a comfortable temperature throughout the night while sleeping on the bed. I'm a self-proclaimed sweaty sleeper, and though it's not as cool as I typically prefer, I haven't had major issues with this mattress trapping a lot of body heat like other hybrid and all-foam beds I've slept on.

Allswell combines both traditional metal coils and memory foam to create the Luxe Hybrid model, a medium-to-medium-firm mattress with a 12-inch profile.
Here's a breakdown of the materials used, beginning with the bottom layer:
- Shock-absorbing foam: A thin (0.75 inches) yet effective layer of high-density foam starts as the base for structure.
- Encased coils: Individually wrapped coils make up the primary layer of the mattress for durability and to prevent motion transfer. The coils allow for better airflow through the mattress as well, which can help you to maintain a comfortable temperature.
- High-density foam: Next is a transitional layer of 1 inch of more high-density polyurethane foam to lend additional support.
- Memory foam: On top is a 2-inch layer of cushioning memory foam to cradle your body. The brand claims that the foam is infused with copper particles to help prevent overheating at night.
- Quilted topper: The mattress is encased by a stretchy quilted topper that incorporates even more plush memory foam material for an extra-soft, cozy feel, and the brand claims the cover is cool to the touch.

You can purchase Allswell's mattresses on Walmart's website. Walmart offers fast and free shipping, along with free 90-day returns (there are even extended holiday returns during particularly busy shopping seasons). You're able to opt for mattress haul-away and disposal through a third-party service for an additional fee too.
Delivery and setup
White-glove delivery and setup are not included, but shipping is free within the contiguous United States. Here are the details:

The mattress is compressed into a box and shipped to your door for free (shown here). You won't need to worry about scheduling a delivery time, but you will need to move your new mattress in and swap your old mattress out on your own.
✔️ Setup
Simply move the box to your desired location, remove the mattress, and unroll it on a flat surface in your room, ideally onto the bed frame or platform. The bed starts to decompress right away, but the brand says it can take up to 48 hours for the mattress to reach its peak fullness.
When we asked our survey panelists about the process, nearly every respondent gave it perfect ratings for being easy to set up. They also shared that the mattress took shape quickly and rated it highly for being comfortable to sleep on from night one.

You have 90 days to sleep on the mattress before deciding if it's right for you. If you aren't in love with the mattress, you can return it to a Walmart store near you or—under certain conditions—start a mail return online. A full refund will be processed.
Note: Walmart partners with a company called Angi that works with local professionals to coordinate old mattress removal and disposal. If you want to take advantage of this service, you'll opt in during the checkout process. You will be charged an added fee and will need to schedule a time for your old bed to be hauled away.
How long will it last?
Representatives for the Allswell brand shared that, generally, the Allswell Luxe Hybrid mattress should last between eight and 10 years with proper care. Allswell was founded by Walmart in 2018, which means consumers haven't been able to sleep on their Allswell mattresses for longer than six to seven years, so I don't have long-term data to support the brand's claims.
Our survey panelists who have been sleeping on their Allswell Luxe Hybrid beds nightly for several years gave the mattress high ratings for being comfortable to sleep on over time, but a few panelists who have had their mattresses for three to five years shared that the beds have lost some of their initial structure and support.
According to brand representatives, Allswell offers a 10-year limited mattress warranty, which means the brand will replace your defective mattress for free for up to 10 years if the defects meet the warranty's conditions. You'll need to register your mattress for warranty upon purchase. If you've already purchased an Allswell mattress through the brand's former standalone website, Walmart will still accept warranty claims.
