A reunion of epic proportions is what Gilmore Girls fans got last week.
As many of us know, Kelly Bishop, who plays icon Emily Gilmore on the show, released her memoir on September 17. To celebrate the release of The Third Gilmore Girl, Kelly hosted a book event in New York City. Of course, those in attendance expected to hear the legendary actress discuss her life on- and off-stage. What they didn't expect was to see none other than Lorelai Gilmore, a.k.a Lauren Graham, as the interviewer.
After Kelly walked on stage, she announced to the crowd that there was "only one thing, for me, that would make it more special, and that's if there was another Gilmore girl," and that's when Lauren came out, and got an astounding reaction from the crowd.
Once the event ended, Lauren took to Instagram to share a clip from the night, and captioned it, "This was simply one of the best nights of my life. Thank you all for showing us so much love! Kelly’s book, The Third Gilmore Girl, is out now. xL."
In addition to fans who were there saying that they "sobbed" when they saw the two of them together, those who weren't able to go to the event, completely lost it in the comments section. "The best thing I've seen on the internet all year. Can we please get a GG reunion of some sort? I would even take a fall/holiday movie..anything. Love you two," someone wrote. "I CANNOT DEAL WHY DID I NOT BUY TICKETS?," said another. "My two beautiful GG queens! I would have possibly, maybe, 100% have passed out if I was there," someone else wrote. And the comments like that go on and on.
Even though we did get a glimpse of the two of them together earlier this year, there was just something so special about seeing Lauren show up for Kelly in such a lovely way. And it clearly wasn't just an emotional reunion for fans. In one TikTok video from the event, Lauren says, tearfully, "I feel so happy and proud — this book is just so incredible. You are just incredible. Any excuse to see you — but to be here together is just something I would never miss."
Ah, this will hold us over until there's another reboot.... which, if we wish hard enough, will definitely happen... right?
