The Disney princesses were big in my house — each one a celebrity in her own right, all beloved by my kid from about ages 2 to 6. Now my nieces have cycled through princess love as well, and there are new ones. Moana, for instance, is frequently put in the lineup, even though Moana herself points out in Moana 2 that she's "still not a princess."

Toddlers can play with Disney princesses, too! Little People makes playsets, like Elsa's ice palace, for ages 18 months and up. This one comes with Elsa and Olaf, plus magical touches like an ice formation that can rise to "grow." Put Elsa on a spot inside the doors, which open up, to hear part of "Let It Go."
There are other playsets, like Arendelle Castle, so you have Anna, too. There's also a toddler version of a pink princess castle which comes with Little-People versions of Cinderella and Jasmine. You can supplement that with a set of six Little People Disney Princesses. Ages 18 months to 5

My hot take, as a mom who bought more than a dozen princess dresses over the years: The ones from the official Disney Store are worth the money if what you're wanting is a realistic princess dress for a special occasion, like a party, versus just play clothes for playdates. I had success washing them in the gentle cycle on cold and hanging them to dry. Sizes 3 to 9/10

LEGO makes oh-so-many fantastic Disney princess sets, it was hard to land on just one to recommend, but this Cinderella Castle gets more than a thousand five-star Amazon reviews. It's for preschoolers who have graduated from Duplo but aren't yet on to more elaborate builds. Highlights include the Cinderella doll with a crown, Lucifer the cat, party hats and a brick showing the missing glass slipper. The beauty of Candy Land is you don't have to be able to read to play, you just follow the color directions on each card: move two blue squares, etc. In this princess edition, you might also be sent to the Sebastian square, or to Cinderella's mice.
