Ingredients

  • 6

    Anjou pears, halved lengthwise

  • 3 Tbsp.

    sugar

  • 1 tsp.

    ground cinnamon

  • 3 Tbsp.

unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

  • 3/4 cup

    white wine

  • 1/2 cup

    dried currants

  • Crème fraîche or mascarpone, for serving

Directions

    1. Step 1Heat oven to 375°F. Arrange pears, cut sides up, in shallow baking dish; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, then top each pear with 1 butter cube.
    2. Step 2Carefully pour wine into bottom of pan. Sprinkle currants over pears (it’s fine if some fall into wine) and bake until pears are tender, 40 to 50 minutes. Let cool 5 to 10 minutes.
    3. Step 3Transfer pears to plates and serve, drizzled with pan juices and currants and dolloped with crème fraîche if desired.
