13 Best Wireless Bras That Feel as Comfortable as They Are Supportive

You won't want to rip off any of these bras at the end of the day.

the 13 best wireless bras that feel as comfortable as they are supportive

We've been independently researching and testing products for over 120 years. If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission. Learn more about our review process.

While underwire bras are known for their support, some wireless bras can offer more—without the poking, pinching, and constricting feelings that make you eager to whip off your bra the second you return home. Pro tip? If you want to maximize support, opt for wireless bras with molded cups for coverage and lift.

To find the best wireless bras and bralettes, the fiber scientists in the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab sent 68 different styles to consumer testers with a range of cup sizes. Many testers who have larger cup sizes said they were "doubtful" that wireless bras would offer enough support, but they were ultimately impressed by just how supportive a high-quality wireless bra can be. Our top picks hail from best-tested bra brands and stood out in our Lab tests for stretch recovery and washability.

Pros

  • Molded cups for excellent support
  • Light padding for a natural lift

Cons

  • Didn't receive the best stretch recovery scores in Lab testing

WHY WE LIKE IT: Featuring molded cups, brushed fabric, and a padded hook and eye closure, this Soma wire-free bra is designed for excellent support with a comfortable fit. It's lightly padded to create a natural shape and a bit of cleavage for a more comfortable alternative to a T-shirt bra. It's a great option for someone who wants more shape and lift.

In our Lab testing, this bra washed beautifully, but we did note that the bottom brand stretched out a bit during stretch recovery testing.

WHAT TESTERS ARE SAYING: All testers reported this bra ran true to size and found the material to be "super soft and breathable," especially liking how this bra offered "the same support as an underwire!" One tester who wears a 32DD bra size said, "I will definitely recommend this bra to people as a great everyday bra!"

One tester with a 36B bra size said, "I liked that it felt very smooth and supportive and fit nicely under a T-shirt with no bumps or bulges." Another found it so comfortable she said, "I forgot I was even wearing it."

Pros

  • Bra has a supportive bottom band with no padding
  • Material maintained its shape during Lab tests
  • Variety of nude shade options

Cons

  • No padding

WHY WE LIKE IT: Prep for the ultimate lounge day with this super comfy yet supportive bralette. It features a supportive bottom band for support without padding and smoothing sides to keep you covered.

Plus, this bralette is available in a wide variety of colors, including three nude options to match different skin tones. Note that this bra doesn't feature any padding, so it's less shaping than other picks.

Pros

  • Seamless construction
  • Smoothing sides and back
  • Impressive size range

Cons

  • Higher sides and back visible under some clothes

Pros

  • Super soft fabric
  • Adjustable straps in the front
  • Thousands of online Amazon reviews

Cons

  • The price fluctuates quite frequently

WHY WE LIKE IT: If you're nervous about wireless bras not having enough coverage, this is the bra for you. Warner's Cloud 9 wireless bra has lightly padded molded cups that are completely opaque. Unlike most bras, you can adjust the length of the straps in the front—not in the back—so it's much easier to do on your own. Not to mention, it has tens of thousands of online Amazon reviews.

In our reporting, we did observe that this bra's retail price can fluctuate, but even at its pre-sale value, it is still less expensive than other styles on the market.

WHAT TESTERS ARE SAYING: Our testers especially loved how supportive and comfortable this bra is, likely thanks to the super soft polyester fabric. Pros

  • Front-closure design
  • Soft modal and spandex material
  • Pockets to hold expanders, prosthesis, or lightweight breast forms

Cons

  • Read the size chart closely to ensure the best fit

WHY WE LIKE IT: When recovering from surgery, the right bra can make all the difference. AnaOno allows you to shop the site by treatment, body type, and bra style to make it easier than ever to find the best option for you or a loved one. Although we haven't formally tested this bra in our Lab yet, we have received promising feedback from fans of the brand.

Other wireless bras we tested

double line break

While the above bras are our top-performing styles out of the almost 70 wireless styles we tested, the following bras are still worth a mention.

  • Hanky Panky Lace Bralette: If you want a minimal bra that still looks great, this lacy bralette is ideal, but it offers very little nipple coverage.
  • Aerie Sunnie Wireless Lightly Lined Bra: Testers and analysts alike are big fans of Aerie bras. Previously included in this roundup, this style is an excellent buy, but after continued wear testers reported that the bottom band became stretched out.
  • Yitty Smoothed Reality Plunge Bra: We love that this bra is available up to a size 6XL and has clever features like a hook to create a racerback. Testers loved the support, but some found it too restrictive. The style also has limited inventory.

How we test wireless bras

linebreak
a gh analysts is stretching a bra as part of stretch recovery testing for good housekeeping's best bra testing
Good Housekeeping/Philip Friedman

The Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab puts all types of bras to the test, including strapless bras, push-up bras and sports bras.

In the Textiles Lab, we test each bra for stretch recovery and washability. We stretch each bra to a set amount for an hour and then see if the material returns to its original length. We also wash each bra according to its care label five times to rate any shrinkage or changes in appearance.

We send each style to multiple testers with a variety of cup sizes to gather feedback on comfort, fit, support, and ease of taking on and off. In total, we collected data from over 300 consumer testers.

What to look for when shopping for the best wireless bras

line break

✔️ Sizing: Finding your bra size can be extremely frustrating as many brands have different fits and sizing charts. So where should you start? First, it's best to know your measurements. Check out our guide to measuring yourself at home. You'll need your bust (over the widest part of your chest) and band measurement (directly under your breasts). Compare your measurements to the brand's size chart before purchasing.

Unlike underwire bras, bralettes can be sold with traditional sizing with cup and band size or standard sizing such as S/M/L. Make sure to check what cup sizes wireless bras with standard sizing can support. Some are designed specifically for certain cup size ranges like A–C or D–DD.

✔️ Support: For ultimate support, underwire bras still reign supreme. However, many testers were impressed with just how supportive wireless bras can actually be. If you want as much support as possible from a wireless bra, opt for styles that have molded cups with a fitted band. If the bottom band of your bra is loose or gaping, you will not get proper support and it can even ride up or move around during the day.

✔️ Adjustability: GH testers especially loved wireless bras that had wide adjustable straps to provide ultimate support. Some wireless bras have traditional, adjustable hook-and-eye closures in the back while others are a pullover style.

✔️ Material: Wireless bras are made with all different types of materials, including natural fibers like cotton or synthetics like polyester and polyamide. Some testers preferred the natural feel of cotton, but it tends to hold onto moisture and can feel sweaty after a long day of wear. Synthetic blends with spandex or elastane had better stretch and wicked away moisture in our Lab tests. Memory foam is often used when the bra features molded cups.
