• The quarterfinals of America's Got Talent season 20 began on August 19 on NBC.
  • Singer Steve Ray Ladson performed an original tune for audiences in studio and at home.
  • Judge Sofia Vergara gave Steve a Golden Buzzer that sent him to the final round of AGT season 20.

Well, folks, it looks like we know one act that's making it to the finals on America's Got Talent.

The quarterfinal portion of AGT season 20 is currently underway on NBC every Tuesday and Wednesday night, with the top 44 acts getting a live chance to vie for a spot in the final round. Steve Ray Ladson was one of the 11 contenders trying to make it to the next level on the August 19 episode, where the singer surprised the audience with an original tune he wrote called "Boots Like Mine."

As Steve had judges Simon Cowell, Sofía Vergara, Mel B and Howie Mandel impressed with his song choice, it was clear the audiences both in studio and at home loved his act, too. And when it came time for the judges to deliver their feedback about the on-air moment, Sofía decided she'd do something that would change Steve's trajectory for the rest of the season.

"Steve! I mean, you are a superstar," she said in a YouTube clip, before giving him a Golden Buzzer that sent him to the final round on AGT. "To be honest, I didn't like this song ... I loved it!"

When other AGT fans caught on to Sofia giving away a Golden Buzzer this far along into season 20, they all sided with her in agreement about Steve's incredible performance.

"Considering how entertaining this was as it implemented more than just singing, this was a deserved golden buzzer," one person wrote in the YouTube comments. "Yee haw! That’s how you do it! Well deserved to go through to the finals! Way to go Steve!" another exclaimed. "He really commanded the stage. I’ll be singing his song for the rest of the night," a different viewer added.

Well, we're certainly excited to know of one person we can count on in the last episodes of AGT! And as for who else will join Steve in the next round, guess we'll just have to tune in and see ...
