The West Wing fans, we're one step closer to getting a thrilling reunion between two beloved actors on TV.
It's been almost twenty years since folks last saw Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford share the screen together on the hit NBC drama. And while the two have gone on to star in some incredible TV projects including Mom and The Handmaid's Tale, it's a rarity to see them work on the same show. Well, it looks like that's no longer the case, thanks to some surprise news that Allison decided to share with her followers.
As Allison has been portraying Grace Penn on the hit Netflix series The Diplomat, she went on Instagram to reveal The Diplomat season 3 will air on Netflix on October 16, 2025. But that's not all—the teaser trailer she uploaded also confirmed that Bradley will be portraying Grace's husband, Todd Penn.
"THE DIPLOMAT. S3. October 16. @netflix," she cryptically wrote in the caption alongside the sneak peek.
When folks realized they received a first look at Allison and Bradley's on-air reunion, they immediately couldn't stop shouting in excitement.
"Excited to see Bradley Whitford join the cast!" one person wrote in the comments. "Can’t wait! I will watch ANYTHING w AJ in it! Bonus with BW!!!," another agreed. "CJ and Josh back at it again!!" a different follower added, while also referencing their West Wing characters Josh Lyman and C.J. Cregg.
Well, we can't believe this is happening so soon! And what's more, this is all happening as Allison's character gets a major upgrade for The Diplomat season 3. As she explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in November 2024, she couldn't believe how her character became the newest President of the United States in the latest installment after a dramatic ending that shook up The Diplomat season 2.
“I literally threw the script across the room,” she said at the time. "It was like what the? … It is such a spectacular ending, I get chills thinking about it."
