While the wait for Stranger Things season 5 may feel never-ending, Chips Ahoy is making the countdown a little sweeter. The iconic cookie brand has teamed up with Netflix's hit series to launch a limited-edition flavor, inspired by the Upside Down.

I got to try them this week, and here's everything you need to know before picking up some for yourself.

About the cookie

Chips Ahoy! Stranger Things Chewy Chocolatey Strawberry-Flavored Filled Soft Cookies

Stranger Things Chewy Chocolatey Strawberry-Flavored Filled Soft Cookies
Now 19% Off

The new chewy cookie features a chocolatey base studded with fudge chips and filled with a bright-red, strawberry-flavored center. (The flavor callout is printed on the bottom of the package — so unless you spotted it, you might be surprised by that first fruity bite). The strawberry-to-chocolate ratio is solid, with a nice balance of fruitiness and rich cocoa notes. That said, the berry flavor leans a little artificial, which left me longing for an actual chocolate-covered strawberry ... or a classic Chips Ahoy.

About the packaging

Now, the real fun is in the packaging. Designed as a throwback to Chips Ahoy's 1980s look (with a few modern updates from this century, like it's resealable flap), the container fits right into the Stranger Things '80s timeline. Look closely, and you'll see detailed doodles tied to the show, including quotes ("friends don't lie"), bicycles, Demogorgons, and walkie-talkies.

And yes, it glows in the dark! Imagine bingeing the next season of Stranger Things with the lights off and seeing your cookie container illuminate on the couch.

On the packaging, you will also find a QR code, which unlocks a digital game, giving fans a chance to step into the Upside Down themselves and have a chance to win prizes

The bottom line

If you're a die-hard Stranger Things fan, this collab is worth grabbing for the nostalgia factor alone. My advice? Grab two boxes: one of the limited-edition flavor, so you can taste for yourself, and enjoy the interactive packaging, and another of your tried-and-true favorite Chips Ahoy variety (mine: chewy chocolate chip). That way, you can guarantee you'll have a sweet treat ready to snack on.
